Proposition E passed on the primary ballot with 73% of the vote.

Doug Otto.
The bond provides $440 million for capital improvements, new
buildings and new equipment for students.

Accomplishments as Trustee at Long Beach City College
Since being elected as a first-term Trustee of Long Beach City College in 2004, Doug Otto has earned the respect of college administrators, faculty members and classified employees for his hard work, his grasp of the critical issues facing the college and his commitment to making a substantive difference for students.
During his first term as a Trustee, Doug Otto has accomplished the following:

Played a key leadership role in recruiting and hiring Eloy Oakley to replace E. Jan Kehoe as Superintendent/President of Long Beach City College in a search process that was inclusive and effective;

Recommended the establishment of the Audit Committee of the LBCC Board of Trustees to provide board oversight for income and expenditures, and served as the Audit Committee’s first chair;

Spearheaded the establishment of board goals that provide clear and transparent measures of achievement that meet the needs of the college and its students

Served as the Board of Trustees liaison to the Long Beach City College Foundation to support Foundation activities
- Developed good working relationships and created an open dialog with faculty and staff including the faculty and classified employee unions
