Critical Issues at LBCC
During my term as a Trustee of Long Beach Community College over the past four years, I have developed a strong belief that community colleges are the gateway to a better life for a vast number of our citizens. Whether they be first year students entering right out of high school, re-entry students that have been in the workforce and seek to improve their career opportunities, working parents with families to support or individuals developing job skills for their present employment, Long Beach City College meets a critical need and meets it well.
However, the College faces serious and growing challenges as it seeks to meet the needs of an ethnically, culturally and economically diverse student body, an academically strong and engaged faculty, a well-regarded and seasoned line staff in a time of severe budget constraints and limited resources.
I believe that the five most important issues affecting the future of Long Beach City College are the following:
