On Friday, July 7, the Community College League of California welcomed the new executive leadership to the League Board and thanked Trustee Doug Otto for his service as the 2016-17 Chair and CCCT President.
Chancellor Brian King of the Los Rios Community College District will begin his term as the new League Board Chair and CEOCCC President. The newly elected CCCT Board Members were sworn in last month, welcoming Trustee Ann Ransford from Glendale Community College as the CCCT Board president.
The League also thanked Trustee Doug Otto for his significant accomplishments in 2016-17. Colleagues thanked Otto for been being an outstanding League Board President and Chair of the CCCT. Trustee Otto has been a member of the Long Beach Community College District board since 2004 where he served as president of the board last year as well as in 2007-2008. He also served as the board’s vice president for two terms.
Otto was elected to the CCCT board in 2009. During his tenure as board president, Otto implemented CCCT board study sessions that provided deeper understanding of key policy topics such as Open Education Resources, Guided Pathways, CTE, and more. As Chair of the League Board of Directors, he provided guidance and policy direction to the organization’s CEO and staff as the 2016-21 Strategic Plan was developed. He also led critical conversations to clarify the relationship between the League and the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA).
